This piece is a tribute to Ivan Lins, the Brazilian singer/songwriter. I was working in my studio one day listening to one of his CDs when his song "Madalena" started to play. This image appeared in my mind. Lins' Madalena is a love song, this piece is a love song to women and their connection to the earth.

I was determined that a particular fertility treatment would be my last and so I stayed in bed for one week after the fertilized embryos were place in my womb. As I lay there looking out the window I found myself yearning for visits from Cardinals.

The Dragon

This was a commission by the parents of the child in the photo. She had drawn the dragon. I fabricated the dragon out of welded steel and coated it with fiberglass resin. I enjoy collaborating with kids!
